Acai Bowl

The acai berry is well known to be an antioxidant powerhouse fruit from South America.

Acai Bowls are now quite a popular healthy breakfast or snack option. However, some of the popular brands used in cafes & restaurants can have added cane sugar. Making them at home using a brand that doesn't have added sugar is a great way to enjoy this easy & delicious breakfast bowl.

TIP: Acai is not a sweet fruit. Adding banana & a little coconut water can raise the sweetness to just the right level.

Ingredients

100 grams of frozen acai puree
1 banana (1/2 for blending, 1/2 for top)
1 tablespoon of water or coconut water
Optional toppings of extra fruit, berries, seeds & coconut

Method

Note:  Breaking the acai puree into pieces before blending will make it easier for your blender to combine.  This is easy to do in the package once the acai has been out of the freezer for a minute or two.  Also, the banana can be frozen or fresh.  If fresh you will need only a little liquid to blend together.

Place the acai puree & 1/2 the banana into the blender with just a small amount of water or coconut water to start with.  Depending on the consistency you are wanting you can add more liquid.

Serve with fresh fruit, seeds and coconut.  YUM!
