Burger Stack

You don't need to make the sauce for this burger stack but trust us, you want to make this sauce!
You will need a stick blender to make this amount but it is very easily multiplied to make a bigger batch. It will store in the fridge for 2-3 weeks.
Tip: Switch the salad up to include whatever you like.
Hint: An egg would be a pretty awesome addition to this burger.

Ingredients

Ingredients

125 grams of lean beef mince
1 pinch of dried garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon of Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon of maple syrup
pinch each of sea salt and fresh cracked pepper
1 rasher of lean bacon with rind removed
1 thick slice of red onion
2 slices of tomato
2 slices of cucumber
1 wedge slice of iceberg lettuce

BBQ Sauce

1/2 medjool date chopped into small pieces
2 1/2 teaspoons of balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoons of pure tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon of Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon of coconut aminos or wheat free tamari
1/2 teaspoon of coconut sugar
2 teaspoons of water
1 good pinch garlic powder
1 good pinch onion powder
1 good pinch smoked paprika
1 pinch each of sea salt and fresh cracked pepper

Method

  1. Start by making the bbq sauce. Add the chopped date to a small bowl and cover with boiling water.
  2. Add the rest of the sauce ingredients to a small saucepan over a low heat and bring to a slow simmer. Drain the dates and add them to the pan, simmer gently for 5 minutes to allow the flavours to blend and the dates to soften. You don't want the sauce to reduce too much so keep the heat low.
  3. Meanwhile prepare the meat pattie by adding the mince, garlic powder, mustard, maple syrup, salt & pepper to a bowl and mixing well until all ingredients are incorporated.
  4. Once the sauce is finished simmering place the mixture into your stick blender jug, let cool a little then blitz until smooth, set aside.
  5. Heat your bbq plate or grill pan to medium high and cook the pattie and bacon rasher until done. Add the onion slice to the plate or pan in the last 2 minutes to caramelise each side.
  6. Meanwhile place your salad ingredients on your plate. Top with the cooked bacon, mince pattie and onion then drizzle with the bbq sauce. Enjoy!
